On a regular basis we host teachings and empowerments by visiting lamas, past abbots (khensurs) of the Gyuto and Gyudme colleges/monasteries, and lay teachers in our center. In 2007 we were fortunate enough to host H.H. the Dalai Lama in the San Francisco Bay Area. From time to time we also host special events.Events like those will be listed in this section.

Buddhist Pilgrimage to Nepal and India with Ven. Thupten Donyo in November 2012 PDF Print E-mail

DonyoPort01Venerable Thupten Donyo, Director of Gyuto Vajrayana Center, is organizing a Buddhist pilgrimage to Nepal and India in November 2012. Ven. Thupten Donyo will be leading the pilgrimage and this will be his fourth trip with Gyuto Center members and friends.

A pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred place as an act of devotion and faith. Many enlightened beings have advised to visit the place where the Buddha was born, the place where the Buddha attained Enlightenment, and the place where he preached the first teaching and where he passed away into Maha Parinirvana. 

During the pilgrimage we will visit the major holy sites of the Buddha such as Kathmandu, Lumbini, Kushi Nagar, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya, Saranath and one of the 7 Wonders of the World - the Taj Mahal
